KTO Manila honors partners
The continuing popularity of Hallyu, or Korean Wave as evidenced in the proliferation of Korean dramas and K-pop music across the globe have led to South Korea being among most favored destinations of 2014.
The country reached a milestone with tourist arrivals hitting 14 million last year. Notably, a considerable number of the visitors are Filipinos.
In fact, last November alone, 34, 048 Filipinos visited South Korea.
As a way of thanking its partners, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO)-Manila organized the Korea Travel Award 2014, which recognizes companies that have been “steadfast in their support and dedication to promote Korean tourism.”
The awarding ceremony was led by KTO-Manila Director Sangyong Zhu together with Assistant Manager HyeJin Jang.
Among those who graced the event were Jeju Air General Manager Robert Choi; Jeju Air Country Manager YoungJong Son; Asiana Airlines Regional Manager YongHan Cho; Korean Air Deputy General Manager Junsok Park; Chungcheongnamdo Provincial Government team leader JongSeong Kim; and Gyeonggido Tourism Organization Executive Director SangHyup Han.
Minji Jung of the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines performed Gayageum traditional music at the event.
The Grand Prize for the 2014 Best Travel Agency went to Island Resort Club Tour Services Inc. (IRC). It was also named Best in Corporate Incentive Tour.
Rakso Air Travel & Tours and Far Eastern Travel Agency won first and second runners up, respectively.
Ark Travel Express was bestowed a Special Recognition Award for Pilgrimage Tour Promotion.
Also recognized were Cebu Pacific, Asian Airlines, Jeju Air, Cathay Pacific, AirAsia Zest and China Eastern Airlines.
“We encourage everyone to create something new for our clients. Let us be trendsetters,” Sangyong Zhu told event attendees.
