Singers Gather For A Cause, Sing For Mother Earth

Manila Bulletin

MANILA,Philippines — Only a good cause can unite artists from rival networks and allow them perform together on one stage.

In celebration of Earth Day, April 22, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Zia Quizon, Juris Fernandez and Kyla led the Green Freedom Concert held April 21 at the Evoliving Center Dockside at NUVALI in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

NUVALI, the country’s first sustainable eco-city, hosted the eco-lovers’ event to commemorate Earth Day through a concert featuring songs about love for Mother Earth.

The Green Freedom Concert also featured performances by Mel Villena and band, Brigada and Kiss Jane band. Angel Jacob hosted the show.

“The Kitchen Musical” star and newly dubbed “Asia’s Romantic Balladeer” Christian Bautista told Bulletin Entertainment in an interview after the concert that this serves as his small part to help save the Earth.

“Yung Earth Day sana everyday. Hindi lang kung kailan Earth Day tsaka tayo magtitipid. [We should always] switch off the faucets when not in use… at marami pang iba. Mag-save, conserve for the future,” he said.

According to the kapamilya singer, his family has been taking part in the yearly celebration. This year, “kaming family, simple lang. Hindi kami masyadong nag-consume ng energy today.”

Manila Bulletin Partners With NUVALI

Apart from the concert, a Green Market occupied the Solenad 1 Activity Center over the weekend. Organic foods and eco-products, as well as decorative items were on sale.

Media partner Manila Bulletin took part in showing its love for Mother Earth by recycling used newspapers, turning them into beautiful, functional bags.

Manila Bulletin proudly supports the Alay sa Komunidad in NUVALI Evoliving. For every subscription to the Bulletin, part of the proceeds goes to the community partner of NUVALI Evoliving. In return, NUVALI also supports the reading advocacy of the Manila Bulletin.

The two-day celebration was capped by a fun run and bike race dubbed “Silakbo,” held on April 22. Silakbo is for the benefit of the Save Silang – Sta. Rosa River Foundation, Inc.
