MANILA, Philippines – Actress-model Megan Young has been vocal about joining beauty pageants, but the aspiration might need to wait a bit to materialize.

The Kapuso-turned-Kapamilya star has clarified speculations that she backed out from joining Binibining Pilipinas, a competition in which the country’s representatives to international pageants such as Miss Universe and Miss International are determined.

“First of all, I didn’t apply. I did do training, but I decided na maybe now just wasn’t the time,” said Megan in an interview with “TV Patrol,” April 2, adding that she doesn’t discount the possibility of participating in the national pageant next year.

Megan, apparently, has always been fascinated with pageants, having joined one (Miss Teen Subic) at 12 years old. Despite her insecurities at the time—and her apparent embarrassment after giving what she felt as an unsatisfactory response in the question and answer portion—Megan finished second runner-up.

The statuesque beauty recalled her experience via a two-part entry in her personal Tumblr site (“To Binibini Or Not To Binibini”), posted early this year.

“Doing the Miss Teen SBMA (Subic) was tough since I was in my first year of high school. I have to admit, I was the lankiest kid ever! I could not walk straight. I did not have a clue what talent I would do. I literally had no idea what I was getting into. All I knew was that I was having FUN. All of the girls became really close and it felt like I belonged to a whole new family,” read a part of her entry.

The 22-year-old Digital Filmmaking student at the College of Saint Benilde appreciates the netizens who have expressed confidence in her should she finally join Binibining Pilipinas.

“Thank you to everyone that has been tweeting me and sending me links to forums. I’ve read everything you’ve sent. I’m so glad you all believe in me. But let me believe in myself first so that I won’t let you down. ;),” said Megan, who has received positive feedback for her tasteful cover for Rogue magazine’s March edition.

“Dapat andun ako dahil gusto ko, hindi dahil pinilit ako. Gusto ko kapag nandun ako, handa na ako. 100%. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Hindi pwede sakin ‘yung 50% lang tapos habang nandun ako, saka ko aayusin ang mga dapat ayusin,” she likewise stressed.
